2018 Toyota Camry vs. 2018 Honda Accord

Cars like the 2018 Toyota Camry and the 2018 Honda Accord have plenty of features to make most Venice families happy, such as standard infotainment, rearview cameras, and sleek exterior design. But in many ways, the Camry is a better choice than the Accord, and we have the comparison to prove it.

Engine Specs

The Camry is equipped with more powerful engines than the Accord:

  • The Camry’s standard 2.5L 4-cylinder engine delivers up to 206-hp compared to the Honda’s 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder which makes just 192-hp.
  • The Toyota’s 3.5L V6 engine offers as much as 301-hp while the Honda’s available 2.0L 4-cylinder engine provides just 252-hp.

Handling and Efficiency

Everything is bigger in the Camry, including the front brake rotors, which at 12 inches provide more stopping power than the 11.5-inch front rotors on the Honda Accord. In recent Motor Trend testing, those brakes stopped the Camry from a speed of 60 mph in just 122 feet. The Accord Required 135 feet to perform the same task.

The Camry provides more drivetime as well – the 16-gallon fuel tank and efficiency of as much as 41 mpg highway could take you 656 miles – or from Culver City to Malibu and back 13 times. The Honda’s 14.8-gallon tank and 38 mpg highway economy can only perform the job 11 times.

Interior Design and Features

The interior of both sedans offer comfortable spaces to enjoy the California scenery and well-equipped infotainment systems, but only the Toyota provides one-touch rear power windows, rear air conditioning vents, and standard rear split seats to allow long cargo to pass through the trunk and into the cabin area. The Honda doesn’t offer one-touch rear windows or rear A/C vents and, if drivers want expandable cargo storage for their Palms shopping trips, they’ll have to upgrade.

Safety Features

The Toyota Camry offers access to essential safety features that make driving down to coast to Playa Vista more secure, including whiplash protection, rear seat belt pretensioners, and post-collision braking – all features missing from the Honda. In addition, Toyota drivers have access to an optional bird’s eye view camera that lets them see 360-degrees around the vehicle when backing and parking. The Honda only has a rearview camera system.
