What Are the Best Santa Monica Bars?
From quiet and sophisticated to bustling and eccentric, there are plenty of Santa Monica bars to choose from for a fun night out*. Here are some of our favorite spots to unwind in our community.
Chez Jay is one of the longest standing bars in the Santa Monica area. You’ll easily recognize this landmark thanks to the nostalgic neon sign out front. And when you step foot inside, you’ll be welcomed by peanut shells, checkered tablecloths, and vinyl seating.
If you’re looking for a swanky night out near Venice, The Bungalow is a great bar. Here, you’ll feel like you went back in time but that you did so with all the best features. With oldies music, retro signage, and a very unique menu, you’ll love spending time in this place.
West 4th and Jane
West 4th and Jane is an average bar with an above-average selection of beers. While the atmosphere is casual and the food is your typical bar food (but still delicious), you’ll love that there are always 24 beers on tap and that happy hour occurs every single day. If you’re looking for a fun experience near Palms, this is the place to go.
Father’s Office is on the smaller side, but you’ll love the appeal of the all-wood style that reminds you of a father’s, well, den. Here, you’ll have your choice of 36 beers on tap. But what’s most exciting about this bar is the rules: don’t ask for ketchup and never ask for substitutions on your burger.
The Basement Tavern stays true to its name. In fact, people have come from Playa Vista and Culver City just to see what it’s like inside. Adorned with taxidermied wildlife, lounge seating, and chandeliers, you’ll feel like you’re literally inside someone’s basement having a drink with close friends.
