Beach Report Card
If there’s one thing that California has plenty of, it’s beaches. So how do you know which ones are safe to visit? Heal the Bay has created a Beach Report Card that allows you to check the water quality status at your favorite beach locations, making it easier for you to decide which ones to visit.
What is Heal the Bay?
Heal the Bay is an environmental organization dedicated to making the waters and beaches around Venice, Malibu, and Los Angeles cleaner and safer. Using education, science, and community involvement, the goal is to create long-lasting enjoyment on the beaches found throughout the state.
What is the Beach Report Card?
The Beach Report Card is a tool created by Heal the Bay. Simply enter the location of the beach you’d like to visit on their website, whether in Playa Vista, Culver City, or any surrounding areas. You’ll then get a “report card” made of different smiley faces to let you know how the beach is doing at the particular time. If you’re not sure what beach you want to visit, the website allows you to use a map view to check all the surrounding areas. This way, you can have a better understanding of all the water quality in the bay area instead of just focusing solely on one.
Supporting Local Environmental Organizations
California is a unique state with unique environmental conditions and needs, and many local environmental organizations have been established to ensure longevity and safety in the neighborhoods. Aside from the Heal the Bay Beach Report Card, there are other environmental organizations helping the area, such as Grades of Green and Global Green.
- Grades of Green: This organization was created by a group of moms who were interested in finding better ways to educate elementary school children about the importance of sustainability.
- Global Green: This organization is dedicated to increasing the value of green initiatives that focus on the people, places, and planet.
